The City of Cape Coral is
well known for its’ abundance of canals and the
waterfront access to the Caloosahatchee River
leading to the Gulf of Mexico. Currently, boaters
may launch their vessels at boat ramps located at
Horton Park or Yacht Club Community Park to access
the Caloosahatcee River directly. Canals and lakes
may be accessed via the BMX Strausser boat ramp or
the Burnt Store boat ramp.
The Yacht Club Community
Park Yacht Basin includes such amenities as yearly
slips, four (4) transient slips, with a control
depth of 5’ and free pumpout. It is located on
the Caloosahatchee River, ICW Marker 78 and
monitored on channel 16. The facility is
conveniently located to downtown Cape Coral. For

Horton Park is located at
ICW Marker 60 on the Caloosahatchee River just
south of the Veterans Memorial Bridge and Four
Mile Cove Ecological Preserve. The park offers a
scenic view of the river with picnic areas and
restrooms. From land, it is conveniently located
east of Del Prado Boulevard and Everest Parkway at
2600 SE 26th Place.
The BMX Strausser boat ramp
located at SW 7th Court and 15th
Street can be used to access Lake Kennedy and Lake
Saratoga as well as numerous fresh water canals
where bass fishing is popular. There is parking
for up to 20 vehicles plus trailers.
Burnt Store Boat Ramp is
located on the Islands Waterway at 230 Burnt Store
Road South. This ramp can be used to access Pine
Island, Charlotte Harbour, and the Gulf of Mexico
through the use of a boat lift. This facility also
provides access to numerous canals and lakes. For

There’s a splash of fun
for everyone at Sun Splash Family Waterpark! The
$5.2 million facility opened to capacity crowds in
1992 and continues to be a popular attraction for
area residents, as well as many visitors to
Southwest Florida. The 12-acre family facility
owned and operated by the City of Cape Coral’s
Parks and Recreation will open for it's 9th season
in mid-March, 2000.
Sun Splash Family Waterpark is designed to provide
a safe and exciting experience for the young and
young at heart. Sun Splash Family Waterpark
features many attractions for swimmers and
non-swimmers of all ages. From the Cape Fear
waterslide for the daring thrill-seekers, to the
Squirt Works interactive play area for the tiniest
of tots, Sun Splash offers a fun and relaxing
alternative to the beaches of Southwest Florida.
Sun Splash’s most popular attraction is the Main
Stream River Tube Ride. This ½-mile inner-tube
ride transports guests through lush, tropical
foliage to the park’s various attractions. New
at Sun Splash for the enjoyment of all guests are
two thrilling drop slides that propel guests down
a straight and curving, racing slide and a 12-foot
raindrop attraction sponsored by Pepsi-Cola. For
non-swimmers, Sun Splash features professional
sand volleyball courts, a game arcade, and more.
When it’s time to eat, the Calypso Café and Ice
Cream Shop offer a wide variety of lunches, snacks
and beverages, or guests can browse through the
Sun Trader Gift Shop to purchase a Sun Splash
souvenir as a memento of their visit.
Our 800-seat pavilion and
100-seat party tent provide many options for
private parties at the waterpark. These facilities
are available year-round for your catered or
private party of any kind. Sun Splash offers
formal group plans for birthday parties, youth
